What Is ProStream X
ProStream X is Video Stream Processor and Gateway. It is high performance network solution for OTT, IPTV, satellite and Cable delivery platforms. It is the first device in streaming media to support DVB CSA3 encryption with 10 Gbps processing power.
ProStream X do Multiplexing, Scrambling, Splicing and Blackout switching. It is Multi-Format and Multi-Codec supporting platform. Because it supports SD, HD, 4K videos, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVC and HEVC etc. It supports all main CAS providers.
It is 1 Rack Unit device. It is designed in a way that it consume less space, low power consumption and provides high quality output. It have the swappable cooling system and redundant power supplies too. Its processor and input output cards can be easily replaced which results low downtime.
It have four 1 GbE port with two 10 GbE ports. Where 10 GbE port supports maximum 1000 Transport Streams. So it can support maximum 2000 services for scrambling and multiplexing.
It is easily integrated with Harmonic’s Electra X Real Time Encoders and can be managed by Harmonic’s NMX Digital Service Manager. NMX Digital Service Manger is a software to manage harmonic devices with redundancy features.
As shown above in the figure it is simplified diagram of ProStream X implementation in the network. The video content is going into Electra X Real Time Encoder for encoding it can be one or more according to your requirement. Then its output goes into the ProStream X that can be via Data Switch. Now ProStream X communicates with CAS server for encryption and with Ad server for Ad Insertion Program.
Now ProStream X can do mulitple things as shown above in the figure like Multiplexing, Blackout Switching, Processing of Stream, Scrambling and Statistical Multiplexing etc. it depends upon your network requirement.
