Conditional Access DVB Standards

DVB-CSA3

dvb standards csa

DVB CSA3 stands for Digital Video Broadcasting Common Scrambling Algorithm Version 3.  The scrambling algorithms are made for the security of premium content from unauthorized users.

This algorithm is made of two things AES and XRC. Where AES is acronym for Advanced Encryption Standard while XRC is acronym for Extended Emulation Resistant Cipher. In this algorithm encryption key is 128 bit key.

This Key is used to encrypt the data block. Where size of the data block should be more than 16 bytes. There is requirement of large number of Gates in decrambler side. The exact number of these hardware gates depends upon the technology implanted in it.

If you want to know more about Cryptography Algorithms then we have explained it in brief Here

DVB-CI

cam module

DVB CI stands for Digital Video Broadcasting Common Interface. It represents the specification for the CAM slot available on the IRD which is known as Common Interface slot. Where we can change the CAM Module and the smart card. This slot can be found on STB, Professional IRDs and Television.

The set top box demodulate the signal and tune the services while CAM Unscramble or descramble the services. So DVB CI slot is implemented for this kind of communication.

So this slot is used to unscramble the protected content. Its specification were extended CI PLUS specs.

If you want to know more about CAM Module then we have explained it in brief Here

DVB-SIM

DVB SIM stands for Digital Video Broadcasting Simulcrypt. DVB SIM standard describe the specification and implementation of Simulcrypt in system.

When two or more than two CAS are implemented in Headend then DVB SIM standard is used to do so. As we have discussed above scrambling algorithm is used for the protection of content. DVB Simulcrypt uses the Shared Scrambling Technique as well as Shared Descrambling Technique.

Internet Protocol DVB Standards

DVB-IPTV

dvb standards dvb iptv

DVB IPTV is acronym for Digital Video Broadcasting Internet Protocol Television. This DVB standard enable us to deliver Audio Video Services & Broadband Services to our home through IP Network. So it define the specification and architecture for the delivery of services from Service Provider to HNED. Where HNED represents Home Network End Device.

There are various Domains which take place in delivery of IPTV services to Home Network End Devices. These domains are step by step as Content Provider then Service Provider then IPTV Delivery Network then finally at Subscriber Home End.

If you want to know more about IPTV Technology then we have explained it in brief Here

DVB-IPDC

dvb h digital video broadcasting

DVB IPDC stands for Digital Video Broadcasting IP Data Casting. This DVB standard define the specs for broadcasting Mobile Tv services on IP. It define the whole system for the mobile tv that how services are delivering , what protocols are using, how services are protecting.

These specifications are designed in way that it consume low battery power and low processing power of processor for devices like Mobile. IPDC platform is composed of two different domains Telecommunication and Broadcasting.

DVB-DASH

dvb standards mpeg dash

DVB DASH stands for Digital Video Broadcasting Dynamic Adaptive Streaming Over HTTP. MPEG DASH is a Adaptive Bitrate Streaming technique that uses the HTTP Web servers for delivery of services. MPEG DASH uses the Transmission Control Protocol.

MPEG DASH supports various Codecs like H.264, H.265, VP9 and VP10 etc. It also supports Ad insertion. It is widely adopted like Netflix and Youtube are using it. For delivery of services in H.265 codec for OTT Headend it can also be used. Because this new codec H.265 is very much useful for saving the bandwidth consumption with high quality of service.

It provides the content in different profiles as per client bandwidth requirement. The client end device switches from one profile to another profile as per internet bandwidth.
